I think is quite useless to describe where I was born, what kind of class I attended, etc.etc.
I can resume myself in a single word…a dreamer!
Since I was a child, I used my mind, my fantasy, to invent stories and imaginary worlds in which I could lost, where I could forget the bad times I had… Growing up, I turned those childish games in written stories, novels full of characters that represented what I wanted to be. Through them, I could be everything I wanted, I could be strong, reckless, independent, I could live wonderful adventures…
Then, little by little, I discovered the world of comics and fan fiction, that made me know the ones who, now - thanks to the computer too, that allows us to keep in touch every day - are the friends which make my life complete! Here is where one of my greatest passions born, a hobby that signified the change of my life… Cosplay!
Yes, because, after all those years spent devising, writing and drawing my fantasy characters, I found out a way to transform myself for real, to put myself in a comic heroine’s shoes, or in a character’s from the anime and manga that I love so much… or even to become the main character of one of my favourite movie… Want to know how? Well, simply doing Cosplay! It was enough to have a good costume, the will to have fun and to take part, to study a bit the chosen character in order to know his poses and attitudes, and… a bit of showing off, and that’s it!
But don’t you think I’m just a “little girl” who “plays to disguises herself as a cartoon”; I have my job as a writer, and in ordinary life I am simply a disabled person, suffering from a rare genetic disease called “Atassia di Fredreich”.
What does it means? It means a huge amount of “funny” movements’ and coordination’s problems, plus others which would be too long and difficult to explain. But, even if I am one of those people branded as “different”, thanks to my will to enjoy my life and to keep on dreaming, I learned how to consider my “diversity” just as something which made me unique and special! I am a damn stubborn, who tested on her own skin how the will to realize one’s dreams with determination can knock down any barrier: I do it through Cosplay, challenging my disease and all my difficulties, managing to do all that would seems “impossible”! For this reason I decided to realize this site, introducing in the logo the staff I use for walking, in order to remember to myself and to everybody else that, even if in a different way… you can do everything you want!

As the saying goes: “Behind a great mean there’s always a great woman”, and I could adapt it to Cosplay, by saying: “Behind a great cosplayers there’s always a great partner-in-crime!”
That’s it, if you do cosplay, you must always count on somebody’s help: even when, because of a cumbersome costume, you ask a friend or your boyfriend to carry your purchases, your wallet or your mobile, just because you don’t know where to keep them.
In my case, that kind of support is even more necessary: not only because I couldn’t even go to a fair without someone who takes me there, but even from the beginning of the realization of a costume.
Betty is my grandma, and my trusted partner and secret weapon.
She attends me everywhere: together we choose the stuffs, together we cut and sew every cosplay (I work with the sew-machine and she realizes all the hand-made parts), she helps me with hair, make-up, dressing… she’s just the only reason I can do cosplay!
If I am the “mind”, she’s not only the “arm”: she’s both my “hands” and every other body’s part I need!
To her, for everything she does, because by now she knows more about cosplay than me, and she even suggests me the characters I can play… I can’t give nothing but a huge THANKS!
You’ll know her great irony and her vital contribution, by reading the “Betty’s Corner” here in the site.
